Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo has promised that his government will foster partnerships with various NGOs and CBOs in this county to strengthen the implementation of devolution.
Speaking after a meeting with representatives from Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and local CBO-SIKOM, which has largely been involved in matters to do with capacity building, civic awareness and social responsibility, the governor stressed on the need to offer capacity building to members of the county assembly so that they are able carry out their mandate of oversight and also enable proper legislation.


He added that his administration will continue working with various development partners to boost economy of the region.
However, the governor asked Konrad to organize capacity building trainings for the public from the ward levels, so that they get to learn on what entitlements they have in regards to oversight.
Konrad director program on devolution Kenya, Thomas Todtling said their organization is impressed with the steps made by the County government in implementation of devolution.
He said Konrad will soon roll out a Partnership project for Transformational Devolution which is being implemented in 10 counties with an allocation of 150 Million to reinforce the efforts already underway.


He urged the county government to prioritize projects aimed at empowering citizens to achieve full implementation of the devolution agenda. He further, pointed out the need to formulate a public participation law, to enable citizens be part of devolution.
Partnership for transformational devolution project was initiated in May 2015, with capacity building, civic awareness and social responsibility, being key result areas.
