The County Government of West Pokot through the department of Tourism, Culture, Sports and Social Services observed the annual UN World Tourism Day held on the 27th September at Makutano Stadium in Mnagei ward.
This year’s celebrations themed TOURISM AND THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION addresses the role of digital technologies in tourism, providing opportunities for innovation and preparing the sector for the future. Technological advances including big data, artificial intelligence and digital platform are the part of the solutions to the challenges facing the growing tourism sector; it provides inclusiveness, local community empowerment and efficient resource management.
The County Government of West Pokot is working determinedly to change the image of the county to portray a good one where one can invest and fell free to be in. Just like the county is a land of hidden treasures, technological advances come in handy to push for investment opportunities in terms of attractions sites and resources found in the county.
The event graced by the newly crowned Miss Tourism West Pokot County- Ms. Sarah Pkyach Longolomoi who promised to market the county, its culture and make investment opportunities in the county known to various investors.
Also in attendance were Mary Ngoriakes-CO tourism and culture, Maimuna Chpngetich- Director, Tourism and Culture and other county and national officials.
