Residents drawn from the Pokot and Sebei communities along the Kenya-Uganda border have embarked on fostering unity and end differences between the two communities; this is a key factor in realising development.
The peaceful coexistence between the two communities saw leaders from various areas mark the Inaugural Bukwo Academic Run at Amanang Playground in Bukwo Sub District in Uganda.
In attendance was Governor Prof. Lonyangapuo who stressed the importance of peace in every community and their neighbours. He further applauded the efforts put by the organizers of the event terming it resourceful as peace is a process that is achieved when people come together for the good of themselves.
The event was organised by Local Government of Bukwo District, Bukwo University Students Development Association (BUSDA) and County Government of West Pokot.
The event was graced by Members of Parliament, Robert Bukose (Endebess), Samuel Moroto (Kapenguria), David Pkosing (Pokot South), Peter Lochakapong (Sigor), Mark Lomunokal (Kacheliba), Kassait Kamket (Tiaty), West Pokot County Women Rep. Lilian Tomitom, Sam Odong- Commissioner for Education who represented Ugandan First Lady HE Janet Museveni and other MCAs.
